Level of Effort: 200 hours (with possibility for increase)

The Kaizen Company is seeking applications for the position of Financial Management Advisor for the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Partnerships Incubator. We encourage candidates who are based in El Salvador to apply, but will consider remote candidates who are willing to travel to El Salvador to engage directly with partner organizations.
About the Partnerships Incubator
The Partnerships Incubator seeks to support USAID Missions and Operating Units in their work with new, local, and nontraditional partners by building the capacity of potential or current partners to implement USAID awards.
The Financial Management Advisor is a part-time consulting position for the Partnerships Incubator. S/he will:
Advise and assist local implementing partners in El Salvador during pre-award phases on resources, tutorials, and best practices for financial planning, management, and reporting in order to meet USAID compliance requirements.
- Review partner systems (i.e. manuals, processes, allocation of responsibilities, procedures, etc.), determine if those systems are in compliance with USAID standards, and make recommendations for organizations to come into compliance.
- Advise partners how to structure departments and delegate responsibility within their organizations in order to financially manage awards compliantly.
- Assist partner(s) in building capacity of personnel and IT systems in the areas of finance and reporting.
- Review and assist local partners to develop an indirect cost system / and or apply for a NICRA with USAID.
- Train partners to prepare for the financial portion of a NUPAS (Non-US Organization Pre-award Survey).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years’ (minimum) experience.
- Experience with FAR, CFR, and AIDAR and/or the USAID-implementing partner paradigm is required.
- Demonstrated experience with new partnership development and delivering financial capacity building support.
- Spanish language skills are required.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, specifically Excel, is required.
- Experience with enterprise finance systems such as Concur, Costpoint, and QuickBooks highly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record implementing training/workshops and/or designing training modules.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to think strategically and plan for tactical execution.
- Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience working in a fast-growth company or start-up environment.
- Professional capability to conduct industry research, identify best practices, and customize solutions to audience needs.
- NGO and/or USAID or other donor international (field) experience desired.
