The Kaizen Company – PNG PEP Activity

About The Kaizen Company
The Kaizen Company, Tetra Tech Company, is an international development consulting firm and an incubator for innovative, scalable solutions that address emerging market challenges and opportunities. Our proven solutions catalyze locally driven organizational and institutional performance improvements and establish communities of practice that facilitate peer-to-peer learning and the achievement of shared goals. We aspire to transform the nature and impact of development assistance and work to strengthen organizations and institutions through innovative approaches to organizational development, reform, and change.

Background on PNG PEP Activity

USAID-Papua New Guinea Electrification Partnership (PEP) Activity is a five-year (2020–2025) project partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) to advance the country’s journey to self-reliance by contributing significantly to achieving the goal of connecting 70 percent of PNG’s population to electricity by 2030. USAID-PEP is part of the United States Government’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, particularly the Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) Initiative, which supports market-based energy policy and reforms, the modernization of energy infrastructure, and expanded access to affordable, secure, and reliable energy supplies. USAID-PEP is also a part of the broader PEP initiative signed by the five partner countries – PNG, United States, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand – in 2018 that aims to encourage cooperation and accelerate the achievement of PNG’s electrification goals.

Kaizen provides organizational development support to PNG Power Ltd (PPL) through its Organizational Self-assessment and Transformation Program (OSTP). Launched as a pilot initiative, OSTP is driven by internal change agents within PPL, known as Change Team, with support from PEP. The Change Team leads the process of identifying opportunities for improvement at PPL and implementing projects to achieve those improvements, to foster a culture of excellence. Guided by the Kaizen Senior Technical Manager, Kaizen will support the Change Team to design improvement interventions in a way that ensures they are fully owned by PPL.
